The Brandon University Symphonic Band:
“The Symphonic Band provides opportunities for musicians at Brandon University to perform quality wind literature in a large ensemble setting. Through the rehearsal and performance of diverse repertoire, students are exposed to a wide variety of compositional techniques, musical forms, rehearsal processes and expressive possibilities that challenge each student to develop their individual musicianship.
The ensemble regularly shares the stage with a variety of ensembles on Brandon University’s campus and travels across the Prairies for performances and workshops with high school programs. The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. Wendy McCallum, performed as the featured ensemble at the 2009 Atlantic Band Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is honored to appear at the 2013 Con Brio Whistler Festival.”
